BAM’s National Children’s Hospital project in Dublin has faced further delays, with no confirmed opening date currently in place.
Originally priced at around €650 million, the project’s cost has now exceeded €2 billion and has missed multiple completion deadlines.
Irish officials have raised concerns over thousands of outstanding defects, including plumbing, ventilation and flooring issues. Reports suggest BAM could face significant financial penalties if delays continue.
BAM has defended the project, stating the hospital is now in its final commissioning phase and highlighting the complexity of delivering one of Europe’s most advanced healthcare facilities.
Despite the criticism, the project remains one of the largest and most technically challenging construction jobs in Ireland’s history.
