Super Trowel: Celebrating Skill and Competition

Construction is not often associated with packed crowds and sporting drama, but that is exactly what makes Super Trowel so special.

Now established as the UK's biggest bricklaying and masonry competition, Super Trowel brings together the country's best tradespeople to compete for the title of Britain's fastest bricklayer. Inspired by the popular American masonry contests, it has grown into one of the highlights of the construction calendar.

This year's Grand Final takes place on 31 July and 1 August 2026 at Hertfordshire County Showground, with competitors battling through regional heats to earn their place in the final.

But Super Trowel is about far more than winning trophies.

It is construction's equivalent of a major sporting event. Competitors train for months, pushing their skills, speed and precision to the limit, while apprentices, colleges, contractors and manufacturers come together to celebrate the craft of bricklaying.

It also leaves a lasting legacy, with materials used in the competition donated to colleges and training providers to support apprentices long after the event has finished.
