The Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) has upgraded its Smart Check platform to give contractors and industry bodies access to more detailed workforce data at site level, including GPS locations, site IDs and the reason behind each card scan.
The update, launched this week, introduces three new API fields for firms using Smart Check through site access and induction systems.
CSCS says the changes will help support compliance with the Building Safety Act while improving understanding of workforce skills and labour movement across the construction sector.
The new features allow the platform to log where a card was scanned, identify the site and record whether the check was linked to inductions, re-inductions, routine checks or site entry.
Major contractors including Morgan Sindall, Wates and Mace already use Smart Check, which CSCS says is the only platform able to verify all 2.3 million CSCS-branded cards.
The organisation added that the enhanced data will strengthen insights gathered through the CSCS Alliance Workforce Insights programme, helping create a clearer picture of workforce demand and skills across the UK construction industry.
